About Me

My photo
The day I said "I do" I married the love of my life and the United States Navy. Since then we have been enjoying the life that the Navy has offered us. This is the story of my days as a wife, stay at home mom of 3 , dog wrangler, and coordinator of our crazy lives!

Our Big News!

Since it has become public knowledge now (or at least as public knowledge as Facebook makes it), I thought I would share on here that we are expecting our 2 AND 3 children in October :-)

This is the announcement that I used to post it to the world. I found a similar variation on pinterest and made it work for us. Then we found out they were twins and had to tweak it again. Regardless, I thought it came out cute.

Just a couple of days ago Ed surprised me with a minivan. We were actually in the process of buying a new Ford Fusion when we found out about the twins. That being said, there was no way I was going to be able to cram 3 carseats in the back of a Fusion. We started looking at larger SUV's and found that we really couldn't swing getting such bad gas mileage (especially with all of the moving and traveling we do). We settled on a minivan and low and behold my husband sneakily traded in my Escape and bought me this:

I love it and it was very nice to drive it north on our partial move (more on that later). I just never imagined myself being a minivan kind of mom, so I am having some adjustment issues. It seems unnecessary with only one little one to tote around and I feel even weirder when I am the only one in it.   I just keep reminding myself to enjoy the solitude because soon it is going to be packed to the brim with babies and dogs!

Bathing Suit Dread

Yeah, I've been MIA. Lots going on in these parts!

To fully understand the bathing suit debacle I am about to share, I must first tell you the story of our honeymoon.

Because the Navy is such a glorious branch of the armed forces, Ed and I were forced to take our honeymoon a few months after our wedding. Its common, unfortunately, and many couples I know never actually get to take a honeymoon because of the Navy's unending generosity. Regardless, we were married at the beginning of January and didnt actually go on our honeymoon until the end of March.

Approximately 4 days after I found out I was pregnant.

In addition to being pregnant, Ed's dad and stepmom were kind enough to offer us one of their time shares for a trip to Aruba, which happened to coincide with the trip they were taking to Aruba, at the same resort. Now, dont get me wrong...I love my in-laws they are wonderful, generous people, but being in Aruba with morning sickness, no alcohol, and an additional 5 lbs (I swear I started gaining weight the SECOND I found out I was pregnant!)....not quite what I had envisioned.

I digress. The point of all of this is that we are going on a cruise at the end of the year. Not just a cruise, but  a wild and crazy extravagant cruise to the Caribbean. We have been planing and talking and making arrangements for Preston and the dogs and just today it hit me....holy shit I have to put on a bathings suit in 3 months.

Everyone whines about how much weight they gain during pregnancy and how hard it is to lose. They do not joke. Now, I gained 65 lbs, which is about double of what you are suppose to gain, but as healthy as I ate I was huge. To date I have lost about 40 of it....leaving 25 that still hangs around.

I have started doing weight watchers again, which is how I lost the initial chunk of weight (you know, that, and actually giving birth) and I am training for a 5k thats in October. I am hopeful that I can at least get close to my goal weight by our trip but still the thought of putting on a bathing suit makes me a bit squeamish.

This leads to the question of where to buy a bathing suit when you 1) do not weigh 95 lbs, 2) bear lovely tiger stripes on your stomach from a sweet little boy, and 3) dont want to look like a skank.

I am open to suggestions. And in the mean time...I am going to go dream about cake.

Cooper River Bridge Run

I mentioned in previous posts that Ed and I were going to Charleston, SC for a weekend. While we had friends that were going to be visiting there, and we were looking for a romantic weekend away, the main reason we went was for the Cooper River Bridge Run. Now, I have never been a runner. As much as I would love to be, I am more of a short distance girl. Nonetheless, I willingly signed up for a 10k. Now, I had all intentions of training for this race, but motherhood was not so willing to comply....

We had to be at the start line by 7, which required us to get up at 5 to catch the bus across the bridge As you can tell...I am not really a morning person.

The race was delayed and we were at the waaaay back of the pact of 44,000 people. To put it into perspective, the winner of the race had been done for over a half hour before we even crossed the start line. We joked that the race was 6.2 miles unless you were in the M corral (which we were) in which case the race was 7 miles.

It was nice to walk and get to enjoy the day and get some sun. We finished in about an hour and a half or so. Ed, of course, was totally fine. It was just a normal day for him (except he would have ran it). I, however, was exhausted. Baby's take it out of ya!

In addition to the race, we got to spend some quality time eating and drinking our way around Charleston. Most definitely enjoyable!

All in all it was really nice to get some time away to reconnect. It's amazing how the days just fly by taking care of the little one, so we definitely needed some "us" time. As a mommy, though....I couldn't wait to get back to this...
